Former Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah has distanced himself from Chelsea and Arsenal rumours. The Englishman wants to focus on Bayer Leverkusen and the remainder of the season.
Chelsea and Arsenal are reportedly keeping tabs on Jarell Quansah, after showing interest in the summer. The two London sides are keen on bolstering their defence and see the Englishman as the ideal fit.
Quansah joined Leverkusen in 2025 after the German side agreed a ยฃ30 million deal with Liverpool. The Reds have a ยฃ67.5 million buy-back clause in his contract, and can activate it next summer.
Leverkusen are determined to keep the defender, and rejected an offer from the Gunners in 2026 summer window. Mikel Arteta’s side reportedly offered ยฃ55.5 million for him, but the Bundesliga side swiftly rejected the bid and shut the doors for his exit.
Chelsea did not make a move, but were linked with the former Liverpool star. They are reportedly still keen on getting him, despite signing Max Lacroix from Crystal Palace.
Quansah spoke to the media this week, and distanced himself from the transfer rumours. He said that his focus was still on Leverkusen and said:
“I only have to focus on playing the season, playing as many games as I can and trying to improve. Thatโs all I can do. If Iโm in the conversation, then thatโs for another day but weโve got a massively important game and itโs another step to becoming a better player. Thatโs the way Iโm looking at it at the moment. You canโt get too ahead of yourself because anything could be around the corner. Iโm just trying to stay levelheaded and keep pushing.”
Apart from the Premier League sides, Jarell Quansah was also linked with Real Madrid. Los Blancos are also said to be scouting him heavily this season, with a view to signing him next summer.
