Arsenal vs Coventry City – Player Ratings and Match Report

Arsenal have kicked off their Premier League 2026/27 campaign with a 3-0 win over Coventry City at the Emirates.

Mikel Arteta’s side started their new season exactly how they left off, with Kai Havertz scoring the opening goal. The German slotted the ball past Carl Rushworth after just 15 minutes, thanks to Riccardo Calafiori making the most of a mistake from Van Ewijk.

The Gunners did not need long to double their lead, this time thanks to Rushworth parrying the ball away from his defenders and into the path of Bukayo Saka. The Arsenal forward made no mistake, scoring with ease despite two Coventry City defenders doing their best to get back and block the shot on the line.

Ben White set up Martin Odegaard for an early goal in the second half, ending all hopes of a miraculous comeback for Frank Lampard’s side. Rushworth was in the limelight again, as he failed to keep the poor shot out of the back of the net.

Arsenal held on to their lead with David Raya very much a spectator in the whole match.
