Barcelona had €100M bid rejected for PSG star
Barcelona news: Donato Di Campli, the former agent of Marco Verratti, has revealed that Barcelona had a massive bid rejected for the midfielder in 2017. He claims that the Catalan side offered €100M for the Italian but PSG rejected it.
The agent goes on to claim that Verratti was the favourite player of the Emir of Qatar. He has also hinted that it is the main reason why the midfielder was not sold by the club.
Barcelona were heavily linked with the midfielder when Andreas Iniesta was in the final stages of his time at Camp Nou.
Speaking in an interview with Le Journal du Dimanche, Di Campli said:
“Barcelona offered €100m for Verratti in 2017. But Marco, was the Emir of Qatar’s player, the one he liked the most. It was therefore out of the question to even discuss it.”
Verratti was also linked with Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus and Manchester City but no move took place. He is now signed to a new contract the Ligue 1 club and is likely to remain there until the end of his contract in 2024.
