West Ham United to move for Chelsea star in January
West Ham United are plotting a stunning swoop for Gary Cahill according to reports in the Mirror. The Hammers are keen on signing the centre-back in January as per the report.ย
The Englishmanย has not been playing regularly under Maurizio Sarri and is excess to requirements at Stamford Bridge. The manager has been using David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger in the heart of the defence with Andreas Christensen his 3rd choice defender.
Cahill’s contract at Chelsea expires at the end of the season and he has already made it clear that he will be looking for a move away if he is restricted to a bench role at Stamford Bridge.
West Ham had a very bad start to the season, losing the first 4 games in the Premier League. The Hammers then managed a shock win at Goodison Park and their season has been better since then.
Hammers have conceded 13 goals in the 8 games so far โ 5th worst in the league this season. With Cahill available for a cut-price, it could be the best option for both parties.
Rumour Rating: 6/10
West Ham would be the ideal destination for Gary Cahill right now. The 32-year-old is at the end of his career and is no way going to get back into the Chelsea XI unless there is an injury.
The centre-back wants to play regularly and joining West Ham will be the best option for him as they need an experienced defender to help Diop and Balbuena.
