Everton open talks with Chelsea to sign Armando Broja – Sources
Everton are in talks with Chelsea to sign Armando Broja this summer. The striker remains a top target for AC Milan, who are yet to table an offer for the Albania star.
Sources close to the player have told TheSportzine that Everton have jumped ahead in the chase for Chelsea star Armando Broja. The Albanian is keen on leaving Stamford Bridge this summer as he wants to play regularly and feels it is best to start at a new club.
Ben Jacobs, who has broken the news on X today, has added that the Toffees are willing to pay £30 million to sign the striker. The move comes just days after the Fulham loanee admitted he was open to leaving and told The Athletic:
“If I need to go somewhere else to get back in my groove, then of course, I would want to do that, As a player, there is no better feeling than being on the pitch and knowing you have a club and a team who defends you; a club who allow you to make mistakes because they know you will become something. But right now, all my focus is on doing my best for Albania at the Euros.”
Broja also hinted that he was unhappy with Pochettino and that there was a lack of trust from the manager. The former Chelsea coach had opted to play Cole Palmer as the False9 while Nicolas Jackson was unavailable in a few games.
The Everton target was not happy with the decision and told The Athletic:
“A little bit [surprising] because I have been through so much with the injury and he was saying something about me needing to be more happy. I did feel like I could have had more trust and belief [from Pochettino]. I basically just got thrown into the Premier League straight away – which is tough to deal with anyway but I had no build-up.”
“I have always been quite hard on myself because I expect a lot, but I have always had a really good attitude when it comes to training and games. I always try to do my best for the team; try to win. I am not a player who sulks or whinges.”
Armando Broja has played just 38 matches for Chelsea, the same he managed for Southampton while he was on loan at St Mary’s Stadium. He scored 9 times for the Saints, while he has managed just three for the Blues.
