Chelsea vs AC Milan for Mike Maignan – The latest

Chelsea are interested in signing Mike Maignan from AC Milan, but the two clubs are reportedly not close to agreeing on a deal.

Chelsea’s interest in Maignan has been in the news since Tuesday, and talks with the goalkeeper have progressed well. Nizaar Kinsella of BBC has reported that the Frenchman is open to joining the Blues and has given them the go-ahead to negotiate with AC Milan.

With Maignan having just a year left on his contract at San Siro, the Serie A side are reportedly ready to let him leave this summer. They have slapped a €30 million price tag on him, per Di Marzio, but remain in talks over a new deal too.

Daniele Longo of Calcio Mercato reported on Tuesday night that Chelsea were preparing a €5 million bid for the goalkeeper. The report suggested that the two clubs were just €5 million apart.

However, things have changed drastically on Wednesday. Fabrizio Romano has reported that Chelsea are looking to sign Maignan for €10 million and not €25 million as reported by Daniele.

Meanwhile, Gazzetta have reported that Max Allegri – the new manager of AC Milan – is looking to hold direct talks with the 29-year-old goalkeeper. He wants the Frenchman to stay at San Siro as he looks to rebuild the squad that is losing Theo Hernandez and Tijjani Reijnders.
