Chelsea in ‘pole position’ to sign Borussia Dortmund starlet for €2M
Chelsea have leapt ahead of Manchester City in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund‘s Nnamdi Collins, according to Bild. The German publication report that the Blues are keen on signing the 16-year-old and have planned a €2 million move.
The 16-year-old centre-back is highly rated in Germany and attracted interest from Manchester City earlier this year. Collins’ deal at BVB expires in 2021 and Chelsea are keen on adding him to their youth ranks.
However, the task is not easy for Chelsea as Borussia Dortmund are desperately trying to keep him at the club. The same Bild report suggests that the Bundesliga side have offered Nnamdi Collins a new deal and promised a promotion to the Under-19 squad.
Bild add that he has also been offered chances to train with the first-team but Chelsea are keen on taking him to London. The Blues have been promoting their star players at the youth level to the first team this season and the trend is reportedly set to continue.
The pacy centre-back has reportedly been on Chelsea’s watch list for a few years now and with him heading towards the end of his contract, they have decided to make a move for him.
