South Korea vs Czechia: Player Ratings and Match Reports | FIFA World Cup 2026

South Korea have managed to get all three points after a come-from-behind win over Czechia in their FIFA World Cup opener.

The first half saw the two sides remain goalless, but that changed soon after the second half kicked off. Ladislav Krejci scored for the European side just before the hour mark, turning the jeers into celebrations in the stands.

However, they could not hold on to their lead for long, as South Korea pulled back level within eight minutes. Hwang In-beom faked the majority of the Czechia defence, including the goalkeeper, and chipped the ball over them into an empty net.

The Asian side were in complete control, but Tomas Soucek found the back of the net against the run of play. The celebrations were short-lived as the West Ham United star was offside and VAR swifty ruled out the goal.

Oh Hyeon-gyu and South Korea made the most of their chance and took the lead with 10 minutes left on the clock. That was enough to seal their win at the FIFA World Cup 2026.
