Chelsea star signs contract extension at Stamford Bridge
Willy Caballero has signed a new 1-year contract extension at Chelsea. The goalkeeper was all set to leave in the summer when his contract expired this summer but things have changed now.
The Argentine had made his intentions clear of moving back to Spain and was set to move this summer. Chelsea were planning for life after Caballero and planning moves for Onana or Dean Henderson.
Chelsea have also revealed that the goalkeeper signed the deal back in April. On signing the new deal, Caballero said:
‘I am very happy to make this announcement. It is a privilege to be part of this Chelsea squad and the Chelsea family, at one of the most historic clubs in the Premier League.’
‘It is a difficult time for everyone right now so I feel blessed by this opportunity and truly appreciate it. I want to thank my team-mates for helping me to be my best and I want to thank the boss and the club for extending my contract. I’m sure they will continue to demand the maximum from me and I will compete with the same energy as always. I am very happy.’
The goalkeeper, who signed a free transfer after his release from Manchester City, will now be at Stamford Bridge for 4 seasons.
