‘That’s bullshit’ – Dutch legend questions Manchester United’s transfer
Dutch legend, Marco van Basten has questioned Donny van de Beek’s move to Manchester United. The midfidler has hardly played this season and was an unused substitute in the match against Chelsea on Saturday.
Former Netherlands manager is unhappy with the transfer and claims that the midfielder should have waited for another club. He said:
“It is very bad for such a boy to only play six or seven times in a year. That’s terrible for your rhythm! You can earn a lot more, but you also have to see where you can play. Is it about a five-year contract that he can sign? No, that’s bullshit. Then you shouldn’t go to Manchester United but wait with it or for another club. You have to want to play football every week, and such a club is then bad for your career.”
The Red Devils signed the former Ajax star for £40 million this past window but warming the benches more often than now. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer prefers to start with Bruno Fernandes in the attacking midfield role, and given the start he has had at the club, the manager is not allowed to drop him.
Marco van Basten is not the only one to question Donny van de Beek’s move to Manchester United. Red Devil legends, Patrice Evra and Gary Neville, also slammed the move after the 0-0 draw against Chelsea.
