Spain 3-0 Croatia – Player Ratings and Match Report

Spain kicked off their EURO 2024 campaign with a comfortable 3-0 win over Croatia. The Spaniard scored all three goals in the first half and saw out the second with ease.

Alvaro Morata was the captain for Spain at EURO 2024 today, and he made no mistake when put through on goal by Fabian Ruiz. The former Chelsea striker was put under pressure by Croatian defenders, but he kept his calm and rolled it in.

Ruiz went from provider to scorer himself with a stunning effort. He wriggled past the defenders inside the box and managed to slot the ball into the left of Livaković’s goal.

Lamine Yamal was the hero for Spain today, but the youngster could not get on the scoresheet on his EURO debut. He did get an assist right at half-time when he whipped the ball in for Dani Carvajal to tap in.

Croatia had multiple chances to get back in the game, but failed to put the ball into the back of the net. They were awarded a penalty with 10 minutes to go, but Unai Simon made a stunning save to deny Petkovic.

The substitute did put the ball into the net after Ivan Perisic put the rebound in his path, but VAR ruled it out as there was a Croatian player encroaching the box while the penalty was taken.
