“He wakes up every morning without a target to reach” – Former Arsenal star slams Raheem Sterling after loan move from Chelsea

Emmanuel Petit has labeled Chelsea loanee Raheem Sterling as one of the most disappointing signings of the summer. The Englishman moved to Arsenal on Deadline Day after Enzo Maresca decided not to use him in the matches earlier this season.

Petit has claimed that Sterling has no target right now and seems lost at Arsenal. The former Chelsea man has added that the winger has never managed to reach the level from his Manchester City days.

Speaking to Casino Hawks, the former France international added that Sterling has not been good enough and it is no surprise that he has failed to make it into Arsenal’s starting XI.

Petit believes that Sterling has lost the hunger to deliver on the pitch as he has already earned enough money from the game. He said about the Chelsea loanee:

“Raheem Sterling has been one of the most disappointing signings of the summer. The environment might not have been good for him at Chelsea but he wasn’t the only one, it’s not an excuse. Ever since he left Manchester City, and even before that which is why they let him go, he hasn’t been good enough and it’s hard to understand why. My explanation would be that he has got so much money during his career that he is no longer hungry. He wakes up every morning without a target to reach.”

Raheem Sterling has just 333 minutes in all competitions this season since joining Arsenal. His only goal came in the 5-1 win over Bolton, a match in which he delivered his only assist of the season as well.
