PSG in advanced talks to sign Chelsea target after sealing Manuel Ugarte – Reports
PSG are close to signing Chelsea target Gabriel Veiga from Celta Vigo and are pushing to seal the transfer this week.
Paris Saint-Germain are set to activate the €40 million release clause of Veiga and sign him up quickly. The Celta Vigo midfielder was a target for Chelsea and Arsenal, but both clubs have not made a move yet.Â
As per FootMercato, the Ligue1 champions have scheduled his medical this week as the talks are at an advanced stage.Â
Chelsea saw Veiga as the one to replace Mason Mount in the squad following his departure to Manchester United. The Blues have agreed a £60 million deal to sell the academy product, who refused to sign a new deal at Stamford Bridge.
Arsenal were also in the running and made a move in the January window. However, they cooled their interest after getting Kai Havertz from Chelsea for £65 million and see him as the replacement for Granit Xhaka.
Paris Saint-Germain getting Veiga would be the second deal they hijack from Chelsea this summer. The Ligue1 side got Manuel Ugarte from Sporting CP earlier this summer, but are yet to announce his signing.
Both clubs agreed to activate his €60 million release clause, but the Paris side offered €10 million per season while the Blues had €3.5 million per season contract ready.
Paris Saint-Germain are now waiting to finalize the sacking of Christophe Galtier. They have agreed terms with Luis Enrique, and the former Barcelona manager should be announced this week.Â
