Sources: N’Golo Kante to sign new deal at Chelsea
N’Golo Kante is likely to sign a new deal at Chelsea this week. The Frenchman has agreed a new contract at Stamford Bridge, which is set to be a 2-year deal with the option of another.
Sources have told Nitwik Sports that the talks between Chelsea and Kante accelerated last week, and the midfielder is now on the verge of penning the new deal.
The midfielder has been keen on staying at the club, but wanted a longer contract when the talks took place last year. However, the injury setbacks saw the terms renegotiated and it has now seen the two sides agree terms.
Kante joined Chelsea in 2016 soon after winning the Premier League with Leicester City. He has been a vital part of the starting XI since moving to the Blues, but is yet to play under Graham Potter as he has been on the sidelines with an injury.
The 31-year-old is set to pen a new deal that will be valid until 2025, with the club having the option of extending the contract by another season.
Barcelona and PSG were keeping tabs on Kante as his contract was expiring at the end of the season. Liverpool and Manchester United were also said to be interested in the Frenchman, should be become available.
