Manchester United to battle Real Madrid for Ajax star
Ajax rumours: Manchester United have reportedly stepped up their pursuit of Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek and are keen on signing him in the summer despite the fact that the Dutchman has already signed a pre-contract with Real Madrid.
Van de Beek is set to join Madrid in the summer for £55 million, but Los Blancos’ failure to offload Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez means they could decide to renounce their agreement with the 22-year-old. This would allow the youngster to then sign with Manchester United in the summer.
Van de Beek has developed into one of the finest young midfielders in Europe and has scored 10 goals and provided 11 assists thus far this season.
He would slot seamlessly into a Manchester United that has lacked creativity this campaign and provide them with the spark they need going forward.
However, despite United’s obvious interest in Van de Beek, they are resigned to the fact that the future of the Dutch star is currently in Madrid’s hands.
