Manchester City star set to sign for Valencia
After 10 years of unparalleled, selfless service, David Silva, prior to the start of the season, announced that he’d be running down his contract at Manchester City.
Amid various stories linking a slew of clubs to him, ESPN now claim that he could return to where it all began – Valencia. The little magician was part of the club’s youth setup from 2000 to 2003 and went on to make 168 appearances for them.
In 10 seasons at the Etihad since, Silva has helped the club win as many as 14 honours, including four league titles. The clubs currently interesting in him are Juventus and Inter Miami.
Valencia, presently on seventh place in the LaLiga, are ready to offer him a three-year contract. The COVID-19 pandemic has cast doubts over players’ contract lengths, although FIFA have requested the clubs to extend deals that run until June 30.
Keeping that in mind, it’d be up to the player to either sign a mini extension at Man City, or to move on as a free agent.
