Liverpool reject Real Madrid’s approach for Trent Alexander-Arnold – Reports

Liverpool have rejected an approach from Real Madrid to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold. Los Blancos wanted to sign the Englishman in January as a replacement for Dani Carvajal, who is out with an ACL injury.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is free to sign a pre-contract with any club from January 1st, and Real Madrid were looking to take advantage of the situation. They were interested in signing him for cheap and six months before they could lure him on a free transfer.

The Athletic have reported that Liverpool are not interested in selling the defender in January and have rejected the approach. They are still confident of agreeing to a new contract with the Englishman and are not willing to weaken Arne Slot’s side by selling in the winter window.

Trent has officially entered his final six months of contract at Anfield and the Reds are yet to agree a deal. They have started talks, but the Real Madrid target has not penned the new contract.

The Englishman has hinted at an exit and said earlier this season, “The most important thing is always trophies. I want to win trophies, I am a player who is highly motivated by trophies and winning things and being elite… That is what drives me.”

Liverpool are 8 points clear at the top of the Premier League table with a game in hand. They are also on top of the UEFA Champions League table with 2 game weeks left to be played in January.
