Juventus star ruled out of Manchester United clash
Juventus have been handed a huge blow ahead of their clash vs Manchester United in the Champions League group stage. Mario Mandzukic has been ruled out of the match with an ankle injury.
The Croatian forward was reportedly set to start the game as their striker with Cristiano Ronaldo playing on the left wing. But with this injury, the returning Ronaldo is set to lead the attack for the Serie A champions.
Juve head to Old Trafford to play their 3rd game of the group stage. They will be welcoming Ronaldo back into their starting XI after he was suspended for the game vs Young Boys.
Mandzukic was linked with a move to Manchester Unite recently but Juve are said to be readying a new contract to tie him down in Turin. The Croat reportedly turned down a move to Old Trafford in the summer as well but the Red Devils have not given up on him.
The Old Lady is keen on keeping him at the club for a longer period and have been in talks regarding a new contract. Goal report that the new contract will run until 2021.
His current deal sees him earn โฌ5 million a season while the new deal reportedly gets him a raise of โฌ1 million.
