Juventus plot stunning swoop for Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola
Juventus news: Defending Serie A champions Juventus are all set to make a stunning move for Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola in the summer, according to various reports.
Guardiola has had a few incredible seasons at the helm of City – the Spaniard has won 7 trophies in four years with the Manchester outfit – but a disappointing 2019/20 campaign means he is on the lookout for fresh opportunities.
The former Barcelona manager’s contract expires in the summer of 2021 and he has repeatedly expressed his intention to honor his deal with City.
However, a lucrative enough offer could force him to consider a move to Italy. According to a Juventus insider, club president Andrea Agnelli believes Guardiola is the right candidate to help the Old Lady win the Champions League, which has eluded them since 1996.
“Andrea has never hidden his interest in Guardiola. Andrea thinks Guardiola will want to come to Italy when it is time to leave England. The question is whether this is the time but he will do everything he can to make it possible.”
Juventus only just appointed Maurizio Sarri this past summer, but their struggles under the new manager are well documented and they are keen to part ways with the Italian if he is unable to land any major silverware this year.
