Griezmann in trouble at Atletico Madrid ahead of Barcelona move
Barcelona have confirmed they are in talks with Atletico Madrid for Antoine Griezmann. The Catalan side are looking to pay the โฌ120M release clause in instalments but the Madrid side have rejected the proposal.
Atletico have made it clear that they will only let Griezmann leave if the release clause is paid in full. They have also revealed that the talks between Griezmann and Barcelona took place in mid-February and that the two sides have a deal in place since March.
Now, with the release clause still not paid in full, Griezmann had to report back for training with Atletico on Sunday. The Frenchman did not turn up and now ESPN have revealed that the Madrid side have opened disciplinary proceedings for breach of contract.
ESPN source said: โLogically a disciplinary process will be opened as Griezmann did not present himself for an official call-up with the club where he is under contractโ
However, ESPN sources Barcelona have made it clear that the transfer is very likely to go through this week.
Rumour Ratings: 8/10
ESPN are a very reliable source and it is normal for clubs to impose penalties on players who do not turn up for training. Barcelona are still trying to get the transfer done as soon as possible and it’s very likely to happen this week.
