Chelsea table new bid for Benfica star Enzo Fernández – Reports
Chelsea have tabled a new bid for Benfica star Enzo Fernández. The Blues are keen on getting the Argentine star to bolster their midfield.
As per a report in RECORD, Chelsea are back in talks with Benfica for Fernández. They had multiple offers rejected earlier this month but are unwilling to leave without a fight.
The Portuguese side are not interested in negotiating with the Premier League side as they want to keep their best players this season. They want Enzo to be a part of the club to win Liga Portugal and progress in the Champions League.
Fernández has a €120 million release clause, and reports earlier his month suggested Chelsea were willing to pay a premium to pay in installments. However, those reports were squashed soon as reports confirmed the Blues were not close to meeting the clause.
Their current offer is reportedly set at €100 million, but sources have told Nitwik Sports that Benfica remain unmoved. They are only willing to let go of the player if the release clause is paid in full.
The Portuguese side are not in a financial crisis, as they sold Darwin Nunez to Liverpool for €100 million.
