Chelsea star accidentally struck Mauricio Pochettino with a water bottle in 2-2 draw with Arsenal
Cole Palmer has revealed that he hit Mauricio Pochettino with a water bottle after Arsenal equalized against Chelsea.
Paler was just taken off when Arsenal managed to sneak an equalizer via Leandro Trossard in the 85th minute. The Englishman had grabbed a water bottle after coming off and accidentally hit the manager in frustration.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Palmer said:
“When they scored their second goal I was getting a drink. I went to throw the bottle away, as you do, but didn’t look. I just saw it loop dead slow and hit the gaffer. I said sorry to him and apologised properly after the game. Hopefully he won’t drop me for that!”
Chelsea were leading 2-0 in the match after Palmer scored the opening goal from the spot in the first half. Mykhailo Mudryk scored a stunner early in the second half to double the lead for the hosts.
However, an error from Robert Sanchez saw Declan Rice score in the 77th minute to pull the Gunners back into the game. Mikel Arteta’s side got their equalizer in the 85th minute via substitute Trossard after a mistake from Malo Gusto.
The draw saw Chelsea sit 10th in the Premier League table, while Arsenal managed to keep their unbeaten streak going.
