Chelsea star ruled out of Norwich City game
Chelsea have been handed an injury blow ahead of their Premier League clash with Norwich City.
Reece James has been ruled out of the game by Thomas Tuchel. The German manager added that the defender has a muscular injury and will undergo further examinations today. Speaking in his pre-match press conference, the Chelsea manager said:
“Everybody was on the training pitch today except for Ben Chilwell and Reece James, who has some muscular problems after his three games. He felt it during the match and it didn’t get better. Today there will be further examinations. It’s obvious what he can give to our team, so not good news at the moment.”
Reece James was out injured for a while and had just made his return to the team. He played in the Carabao Cup final and the FA Cup tie at Luton Town but started against Burnley last weekend.
The defender was in top form once again and had opened the scoring on Saturday. He then assisted Kai Havertz and ended the game with a clean sheet too.
Chelsea will be hoping that the recent injury is not severe and he returns to the pitch against Newcastle United, or at least in the Champions League tie next week.
The Blues are currently fighting for a place in the top 4, and Reece is a vital part of Tuchel’s plans.
