Chelsea eye highly versatile £35M star
According to reports, Chelsea are eyeing a move for Nice right-back, Youcef Atal. The Algerian is reportedly rated at £35M by The Blues and will launch a move in January itself of the ban is reduced.
Atal joined Nice in 2018 and has been impressive for the Ligue 1 side ever since. The 23-year-old is a highly versatile player who can play as a right-back, right-midfielder, right-winger and similarly on the left side of the flank too!
He played as a left-forward and scored a hat-trick towards the end of last season against Guingamp. He was also a part of the Algerian side that won the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this summer.
Cesar Azpilicueta has not been at his best in the past couple of seasons and the fans are keen on seeing Reece James making his way into the starting XI. However, it looks like Frank Lampard wants a proper replacement signed for the Spaniard as well.
Chelsea rumours suggest that The Blues are reportedly confident that CAS will overturn the decision and thus allow them to sign players in January. The Europa League champions let Davide Zappacosta move to AS Roma on loan until January as Lampard was confident in Reece James making it to the first team.
Rumour Checker: 5/10
While Chelsea are confident that they will have their transfer ban overturned, it is unlikely that they will sign a right-back in January. Unless The Blues are looking to sign Atal as a player who can play in various other positions, the move is unlikely to happen.
