According to reports in Italy (via TeamTalk), FA Cup Champions Chelsea are close to completing a deal for Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain.
The move will cost The Blues £51 million up front and they will have to shell out an additional £8 million in add-ons and performance-related bonuses.
If the deal does go through and the bonuses are paid, it will break the club record fee they paid for Alvaro Morata last season.

Personal terms between the player and the club are yet to be negotiated but Higuain has given a ‘verbal agreement’, expressing his desire to join the London outfit.
Higuain is among the most lethal strikers on the planet, as evidenced by his 282 goals from 556 career appearances.
He also set a goal-scoring record in the Serie A when he smashed in 36 goals in a single campaign for Napoli.

Higuain will be the ideal replacement for Morata, who has struggled during his time with Chelsea, his form even costing him a place in Spain’s World Cup squad.
Morata managed just 11 goals in the Premier League last season and is all set to leave the Bridge in order to restart a stalling career.
Chelsea were initially keen on a direct swap between Higuain and Morata but Juventus were unwilling to see eye to eye.
