Chelsea player leaves on loan with an option to sign permanently
Michy Batshuayi has completed his loan move to Crystal Palace, according to Sven Claes. The Belgian reporter claims that the striker has undergone his medical at the Premier League side and will join on loan for the season.
Sven Claes adds that Crystal Palace will have an option to sign Batshuayi on a permanent deal next summer. Chelsea were looking to sell the Belgian this summer as he has only a year left on his contract.
However, the pandemic situation made things impossible for any club to afford him right now and thus the Blues have tied him down for another year.
This is the 2nd time Michy Batshuayi is moving to Crystal Palace on loan from Chelsea. The Belgian joined Roy Hodgson’s side in 2019 as well after his loan spell at Valencia failed.
Batshuayi enjoyed a good time at Palace and scored 6 goals in 11 appearances for the side. He was touted to join them permanently but Chelsea’s transfer ban saw him remain at Stamford Bridge for another season.
Michy, however, failed to capitalize on the situation and remained as the 3rd choice striker behind Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud.
