Chelsea eye move for former Liverpool star as Mauricio Pochettino inches closer to joining – Reports
Chelsea are reportedly considering a move for former Liverpool forward, Sadio Mane. The Blues are keen on bolstering their attack and are looking to take advantage of Bayern Munich’s plans to sell the Senegal star.
As per a report in Football Insider, Mane is the latest player on Chelsea‘s radar. The Blues see the 31-year-old as the perfect player to help with their goal drought this season and could make a move in the summer.
Mane joined Bayern Munich from Liverpool last summer, but things have gone south for the Senegal star. He started well in the Bundesliga but soon lost his place in the starting XI and grew frustrated.
The former Southampton forward was also involved in a physical altercation with teammate Leroy Sane last month following their loss to Manchester City. He was handed a club-record fine by the German club, and they are now looking to sell him.
Chelsea have struggled in front of goal and have managed just 30 goals in 32 Premier League games. The poor form has seen them slip to 12th in the table, and are set to finish outside the European spots.
The Blues are close to appointing Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager, and he could play a key role in deciding the transfer. However, there are chances of the forward rejecting the move due to his connection with Liverpool in the Premier League.
