Arsenal set to agree fee with Chelsea for Kai Havertz – Sources
Arsenal have decided to submit a new bid for Kai Havertz but are still a few million away from Chelsea’s asking price.
Mikel Arteta is pushing for Arsenal to sign Havertz from Chelsea, and the club are readying a second bid. The Gunners are set to offer £60 million, but are yet to close in on the asking price set by the Blues.
The Sportzine sources have reported that Chelsea are willing to accept £65 million – including add-ons – for the German star, who is keen on leaving Stamford Bridge this summer.
The Gunners were keen on signing Mason Mount from the Blues but switched their attention to Havertz after the Englishman decided he wanted to join Manchester United if he was to leave Stamford Bridge. They have already agreed personal terms with the German and are now working on getting a deal done.
Chelsea signed Havertz for £71 million, including add-ons, and are looking to recoup most of it from a sale this summer. They reportedly wanted £70 million for the forward but are happy to accept £65 million.
Havertz was the top scorer for the Blues last season, with 9 goals in the Premier League, after leading the attack for most of the season.
Bayern Munich and Real Madrid were also interested in German forward but have now backed out because of the asking price set. The Gunners are not backing out and are now getting close to agreeing a deal.
