Chelsea set to appoint former Fulham defender in a new role – Reports

Chelsea are set to appoint former Fulham defender Jim Hicks in a new role at the club. 

Jim Hicks is set to be appointed as the head of coach development and will be working with coaches at the U15 to U21 level and all ages groups in the women’s division. The 63-year-old resigned from his role at the PFA last month and will join Chelsea in March. 

As per the Daily Mail, the Blues are continuing their backroom setup and making new roles. The former Millwall Lioness manager will be returning to a club setup for the first time in 15 years but is seen as one of the well-respected figures in club football. 

The move comes just days after David Ornstein announced that San Jewell will be moving to Chelsea from Brighton & Hove Albion. The 34-year-old will also be joining in a new role that has been created at the club. 

The head of recruitment at Seagulls has worked with the Premier League side for 16 months and will follow the likes of Graham Potter, Paul Winstanley, and others to Stamford Bridge. Apart from the backroom staff, the Blues have also recruited three players from the AmEx stadium – Marc Cucurella, Robert Sanchez, and Moises Caicedo. 

The Blues are also set to appoint Josh Marsh as the new loans manager soon. He is moving from Swansea, and the Championship side has confirmed his departure.
