Chelsea star to snub interest from Barcelona and sign new contract – Reports
N’Golo Kante has reportedly decided to snub interest from Barcelona and Al Nassr to sign a new deal at Chelsea. The 31-year-old is in the final six months of his contract and was free to negotiate with any club.
Chelsea were open to keeping Kante at the club beyond the season, but were unwilling to hand him a long-term contract as he requested.
The Frenchman was adamant on not renewing unless his terms were met, but things have changed following the last injury setback.
As per Fabrizio Romano via CaughtOffside, The midfielder is now very likely to pen a new deal at Chelsea. The former Leicester City star has been at the club since 2017 and has won all trophies available except the league cup.
Barcelona and Al Nassr were keen on signing the midfielder if he ran down his contract the Stamford Bridge. Both sides are looking to bolster their squad and believe the Frenchman has a lot to offer despite his injury record of late.
Barcelona signed Andreas Christensen on a free transfer from Chelsea last season and also bought Marcos Alonso from them late in the window.
Al Nassr have unveiled Cristiano Ronaldo today and are looking to add Real Madrid’s Luka Modric and PSG’s Sergio Ramos.
