Manchester United make surprise move for Premier League goalkeeper
Manchester United have made a surprise move to sign Martin Dubravka from Newcastle United. The Red Devils want the Slovakian on loan to provide competition for David De Gea.
Manchester United‘s search for a new goalkeeper has taken them to Tyneside, and they are keen on getting Dubravka, as per The Athletic.
David Ornstein reports the Red Devils are yet to agree a deal for the Slovakian, who was signed in 2018 from Sparta Prague after a successful loan spell.
The 33-year-old was not a part of Newcastle United’s Carabao Cup win over Tranmere Rovers earlier this week. The Magpies have signed Nick Pope from Burnley this summer, and he has taken over as the #1 at the club.
Kevin Trapp was linked with the Red Devils earlier this month, but the interest has cooled. Eintracht Frankfurt are reportedly demanding โฌ25 million for their goalkeeper.
Dean Henderson was unwilling to wait for Erik ten Hag’s arrival and forced a loan move to Nottingham Forest as he wanted to play regularly this season.
The Englishman is aiming for a spot in the World Cup squad and try and nick the #1 jersey as well, with Jordan Pickford struggling at Everton.
