Serie A side confirm interest in signing Tottenham star
Bologna have confirmed their interest in signing Erik Lamela from Tottenham Hotspur this summer. The Serie A side’s director, Walter Sabatini, was named the Argentine as a target but is unsure if they will get him.
Erik Lamela was among the players Tottenham splashed the ‘Gareth Bale money’ on in 2013. The Argentine has not been at his best at the Premier League side as injuries have played a big part.
Jose Mourinho is reportedly willing to let go of the Argentine this summer as he has just one year left on his contract. Erik Lamela signed a 4-year deal in 2018, but there are no hints of a new deal from Spurs.
Walter Sabatini, Bologna’s director, wants to take advantage of the situation and sign the 27-year-old winger. Talking to Resto del Carlino, he said:
“Erik Lamela is a potential target. We’re trying to see if there are chances to sign Lamela from Spursโฆ and it’s not sure. We’ll see.”
Walter Sabatini played a considerable part in Erik Lamela’s career by taking him from Rivel plate to AS Roma in 2011. The director is not eyeing a reunion, but other clubs might also be interested in signing the winger, who could be available for a cut-price.
