Chelsea accepted a bid to sell me, claims John Terry
John Terry has revealed that Chelsea had accepted to a bid to sell him when he was just 19-years-old. The bid had come from Huddersfield Town, who were being managed by Steve Bruce back then.
However, then Chelsea manager, Gianluca Vialli refused to sell the defender and handed him his debut at the club. Talking on an Instagram Q&A with Stephen Hendry, Terry claimed that it was the first official bid for him ever.
During my time the only two clubs that approached me were Huddersfield when I first came through. Steve Bruce was manager of Huddersfield.
Chelsea accepted a bid and Vialli said no. Which obviously I’m very thankful to Luca for, he gave me my debut. Great man, great manager.
The second bid for the Chelsea legend came from Manchester City in 2009. Mark Hughes was handed am unlimited budget to sign the players he wanted to make Manchester City stronger than ever and the English defender was one of his choices.
John Terry rejected that move as well and ended up staying at Chelsea until 2017. He was then released from the club and Aston Villa swooped in. The former English defender is now the assistant manager at Villa Park.
