Tammy Abraham breaks Eden Hazard’s Chelsea record
Chelsea news: Tammy Abraham scored a hat-trick against Wolverhampton at the Molineux Stadium on Saturday to hand Chelsea a 5-2 win. The young striker’s goals came after another youngster, Fikayo Tomori opened the scoring with a stunner from long range.
By scoring a hat-trick today, Tammy has broken Eden Hazard’s record for being the youngster Chelsea player ever to score 3 in a game. The Belgian was 23 years old when he netted 3 against Newcastle United in February 2014. The current Chelsea #9, meanwhile, is just 21 years and 347 days old.
Tammy also got an unnecessary record to his name when the ball hit him on the hand and went on for Wolves’ first goal of the game. The own goal made his the first Premier League player ever to score a hat-trick and an own goal in the same game.
The Chelsea academy product also became only the third player aged 21 or younger to have scored 2+ goals in 3 consecutive Premier League games. Only Cristiano Ronaldo in December 2006 & Dele Alli in January 2017 have done it in the league’s history.
Tammy Abraham could not complete the whole game however and had to be substituted. He suffered cramps and was replaced by Michy Batshuayi in the 77th minute.
The former Aston Villa and Swansea City loanee did have a message for the home fans who were booing him. He cheekily held up three fingers to the Wolves crowd on his way out.
