Liverpool’s Alisson set for a lengthy time on the sidelines

Alisson will be out for 4-6 weeks according to widespread reports in the United Kingdom. The Liverpool goalkeeper injured himself in the 4-1 win over Norwich City while taking a goal kick.

Jurgen Klopp had immediately ruled Alisson out of the UEFA Super Cup match against Chelsea on Wednesday. However, it looks like the keeper will be out for a little longer.

Adrian, who was just signed on a free transfer on Monday made his debut last night against Norwich. Liverpool are without a fit keeper now as their 3rd choice, Caoimhin Kelleher is just returning to full fitness after he sustained a broken wrist in pre-season.

Talking to the media after last night’s win over Norwich City, Klopp said: โ€œI’m very happy with the start but of course the Ali situation is a shadow.โ€

โ€œHe thought something hit him in the calf, so that’s never a good thing โ€“ he thought that, but that’s not how it happened, it’s what he felt. That means it’s probably a bit more than a strain. We have to make a diagnosis, we don’t know it exactly, but it doesn’t look too good.โ€

โ€œWe brought [Adrian] in for situations like that, he was calm, did the job and is good for us in possession and his calmness helps us a lot. But we have a little problem. Number three [keeper] Caoimhin Kelleher is coming back but not 100 per cent fit yet. And even younger ones have some issues as well, so we have to think again.โ€
