Liverpool star wants to leave this summer, claims agent
Simon Mignolet’s agent has confirmed the goalkeeper is looking to leave Liverpool this summer. The agent claims that the Belgian is desperate to play regularly and has decided to leave the club once again.
Jurgen Klopp got Liverpool to sign Alisson Becker from AS Roma for a then world-record fee for a goalkeeper as he was not happy with Mignolet and Lloris Karius. While the latter was allowed to leave on a 2-year loan to Besiktas, the Reds decided not to let the former Sunderland star leave.
Mignolet was keen on leaving last summer as well but decided to stay as Klopp was keen on having him as the 2nd choice. He played just 2 games last season and has made it clear that he wants to leave so that he can play regularly.
The Belgian’s agent has now publicly revealed his desire to leave and said, โItโs important for Simon to play somewhere, and our goal is still to make him leave. Heโs still got a lot to offer, and if we have an offer, weโre counting on Liverpool making an effort.โ
Liverpool, however, are not interested in selling him this summer. The Reds still want him as the 2nd choice and Klopp confirmed the same and said:
โI’ve had a lot of conversations with him in the last couple of years. Not weeks but months, before we left (for the summer break) we had a talk. Will he stay? I would say yes.โ
Crystal Palace were reportedly keen on signing him last month while rumours of Bundesliga clubs keeping an eye on him have also been going around.
