Bournemouth vs Arsenal Player Ratings and Match Report
Bournemouth have managed to produce the surprise result of the season by beating Arsenal at the Vitality Stadium. The Cherries got a helping hand from the Gunners as they played the majority of the match with a man advantage and got a late penalty, too.
Mikel Arteta’s side were keen on going to the top of the table on Saturday evening but have to remain 3rd in the table for this weekend. They could also slip down to 4th if Chelsea manage to beat Liverpool at Anfield.
Williams Saliba was sent off for Arsenal at the half-hour mark after he brought down Evanlison near the halfway line. The Bournemouth man was chasing the poor back pass from Leandro Trossard and got tangled up with the Frenchman.
Kepa gave Arsenal a golden chance to take the lead in the 68th minute, but Gabriel Martinelli’s effort was saved by the goalkeeper on loan from Chelsea. The miss from a 1v1 situation went from bad to worse for the Gunners as their opponents took the lead a minute later.
Ryan Christe scored from a corner to give Arsenal a taste of their own medicine. The home side made it 2-0 in the 79th minute after David Raya’s poor attempt to get to the ball gave them a penalty.
