Kai Havertz claims Chelsea fans were angry with his move to Arsenal
Kai Havertz believes his move to Arsenal angered Chelsea fans. The German claims that the Stamford Bridge faithful were not happy that he was leaving the club.
Havertz moved to Arsenal in the summer of 2023 after spending three seasons at Chelsea. The Gunners paid £65 million to sign the German from the Blues – around £7 million less than what Bayer Leverkusen got for him in 2020.
The German footballer believes the move was not welcomed by both sets of fans and he understands why it happened. Havertz claims that the Chelsea fans wanted him to stay, while the Arsenal fans were not happy with his slow start.
He told Welt Am Sonntag:
“It wasn’t easy at Arsenal either at the beginning. The Chelsea fans were angry that I left, and the Arsenal fans weren’t that enthusiastic either because things didn’t go so well at the beginning. Then you get strength when the coach, your teammates and the people close to you stand by you and support you.”

Kai Havertz scored 13 goals for Arsenal in his first PL season at the club. The German had managed just 19 goals in 3 Premier League seasons at Stamford Bridge.
