“I’m not too sure” – Former Chelsea star sends strong Mauricio Pochettino message to owners
Glen Johnson has urged the Chelsea owners to stick with Mauricio Pochettino. The former defender believes the Argentine is the right man for the job at Stamford Bridge.
Pochettino’s job at Chelsea is on the line, and reports suggest the manager could be sacked next week. However, Johnson has urged the new owners to back the former Tottenham coach for another season.Â
The former Portsmouth and Liverpool defender states that the Argentine deserves at least one more season at Stamford Bridge.Â
He added that the team is finally looking good and told BetFred:
“I don’t know. I’m not too sure. Hopefully the owners are going to give him time because sometimes the team looks great, so there are positives coming out of Chelsea. I definitely think he’s the right man for the job and he needs a bit more time. The fans and the owners will run out of patience eventually, but I still believe it’s worth giving him at least another season.”
“Yes, possibly. It’s a good thing for the manager and his players to be confident and believe in what they’re doing. As long as he believes in what he’s doing and the players believe in what he’s doing, then they’re going to make positive steps.”
Chelsea face Brighton & Hove Albion and Bournemouth in their final two matches of the season. The Blues can still finish 5th in the Premier League table, but need Newcastle United to drop points in one of their two games and Sheffield United to defeat Tottenham on the final day.
